Dr. Joy Browne is a licensed clinical psychologist and host of her own nationally syndicated daily radio show on the WOR network. Every day, millions of listeners in the US and Canada hear her give advice on everything from cheating boyfriends to the best new plays on Broadway.
She has won numerous awards for her work including the American Psychological Associations President’s Award and the Talker’s Magazine award for Best Female Talk Show Host--two years in a row. In addition to radio, Dr Browne can be seen on television as a guest on shows like Oprah and Larry King. The Dr. Joy Browne Show was syndicated on television by CBS Eyemark Entertainment in the 1999-2000 season.
Joy is the author of several books including: It’s A Jungle Out There Jane, Dating for Dummies, The Nine Fantasies That Will Ruin Your Life. Her 8th book, Getting Unstuck, 8 Simple Steps to Solving Any Problem will be published by Hay House in the fall of 2002.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Dr. Joy is an active volunteer. She spent many years working with The Herbert G. Birch Summer Project, a summer camp for children and families of children living with HIV and AIDS. Joy most recently worked with the Salvation Army following the World Trade Center disaster in New York City.
Before finding her way to the airwaves, Dr. Browne was a teacher, archeologist and engineer on the space program. Joy is the mother of one daughter and keeps herself inspired by dancing, hot air ballooning, and practicing yoga. She has been lucky enough to broadcast her insightful advice from many fabulous American cities including Boston and San Francisco but after nearly 10 years in the Big Apple she is truly proud to be a New Yorker
