Someone Please Say No To On-Line Voting
Stop them ! Someone please stop them !
Voting on-line is a very bad idea. In fact, making it easier for people to vote, period, is a bad idea.
Why is everyone always so concerned about voter turnout.
We hear it every election.
"Voter turnout was low"... "fewer people voted this year as compared to the last election".
Why is that such a bad thing ?
People who feel compelled to vote just because they are supposed to are dangerous. They tend to have no idea about any of the candidates' platforms. They haven't heard a single prospective candidate speak, yet they feel they have to vote. So they do. They might pick someone because she has a nice name. Maybe they pick the man named Bob because he reminds them of their brother or because he's tall and strong looking.
Don't go thinking this doesn't happen, because it does.
Stand on a street corner and hand out lollipops or loonies with your name on them and tell people to vote for you. Do nothing else. You are guaranteed to get votes.
Why do you think we have to put up with the eyesore that is election signs every election year ?
The answer is - name recognition. Too many people will use it to cast their ballots.
Those people are stupid people, but they get to vote just the same.
If you make it easier for people to vote, more stupid people will and that could have a great impact on where the city of London heads for in the future.
Low voter turnout is not such a bad thing as long as those voters are intelligent and informed. If a grand total of 100 people show up to vote, that's fine. As long as they know what they are doing and as long as they can't be classified as stupid voters.
This isn't about marketing, it's about management.
Stupid people are often also lazy people. If we make it tougher for them to get to the polling stations, they will just stay away and we will all benefit from a better and more clearer result in the end.
Please put a stop to the idea of on-line voting now !!!
