Coming into the Commonwealth Games, Damian Warner of London had some questions to answer.
Warner suffered an ankle injury this past spring and there were some who wondered whether it had completely healed in time to compete in the Decathlon in Scotland.
His performance answered everyone loud and clear.
Warner kicked off the 2-day event by breaking Daley Thompson's record in the 100m and did not let up from there, capturing the gold on Tuesday.
The Montcalm grad ended 10-events with 8202 points, giving him a 173 bulge over Ashley Bryant of England.
Warner's personal best in the event is 8512 which earned him a bronze in the Decathlon at last year's World Championships in Russia.
London's Jessica Zelinka is in second place after the first day of the Women's Heptathlon.
