Steve’s lifelong dream was to be a radio broadcaster. As a student in Fanshawe College’s Radio Broadcast program in its very first year, Steve quickly earned his stripes. Among his notable achievements (besides being in charge of pub crawls) was his leadership in applying to the CRTC to put 6X FM, Fanshawe’s in-house signal, on the air as a training ground for student broadcasters.

As a result, Steve was named Broadcaster of the Year in the first year of the Fanshawe program (1975); and, thirty years later, in 2005, Fanshawe honoured his lifelong commitment to the broadcast industry with his induction into their Communication Arts Media Wall of Fame.

Steve’s knowledge of his craft comes from not just a lifelong passion for broadcasting, but a long tenure with 1290 CJBK that has included roles in programming, sales, promotions and on-air. For the last two decades, Steve has been the morning voice of 1290 CJBK, and a source of highly-local news and information for London and region.

Steve’s love of his community developed as a result of his family’s deep London roots. His parents Jerry and Fanny Goose, well-known downtown merchants who operated J. Goose Family Clothing for 45 years, taught Steve the value of community service and involvement.

Steve, along with wife Michelle (who he affectionately calls “She Who Must Be Obeyed), and their two cats Max and Ginger, are active in the community and are proud to call London home.

ABOUT LONDON IN THE MORNING:

His show now is best described as a place where friends and interesting guests stop by to provide information about local events and issues that affect people in London and across Southwestern Ontario.

Long-time television personality and sports announcer Pete James joins Steve every morning throughout the program to provide his insight into the sports stories of that day.

"London in the Morning with Steve Garrison" provides you with all the information you need to know in your morning with hourly news updates and up to the minute sports scores - all brought together by Steve's producer - extraordinaire, Ryan Spence.

If it's going on, it's on "London in the Morning with Steve Garrison" on News Talk 1290 CJBK every weekday morning from 6-9.

Andy Oudman

You can hear it in his voice every time he cracks a microphone - a great sense of humour combined with a passion for making London a better place to live and work! That is what have made him such a great radio host. His very energetic and colourful style have drawn attention and job offers from radio stations both in Canada and the United States, but he loves London and has decided to stay!

Andy is a graduate of Western, where he graduated in 1973, and Fanshawe College's School of Broadcast Journalism where he graduated in 1975, the year he began doing afternoon newscasts on CJBK.

Andy and Marilyn have three sons, all working in and around London who give him constant feedback on this community. Andy's is also a proud new grandpa.

Andy has worked on CJBK and 97.5 London's EZ Rock for a total of over 30 years.

EMAIL ANDY or if he's on the air call him at: (519) 643-1290

Ryan Spence

Hi there thanks for checking in.

It has been my pleasure to work at CJBK since 1993 and couldn't ask for a better way to spend my working days. Having grown up and remaining in the London area for all my life I find it a great pleasure to work at the station that I grew up listening to. For the past ten years home has been in the Dorchester area with my wife Wendy who spent 15 years at our "sister station" BX-93 and is now the reporter/editor at the weekly Dorchester Signpost newspaper. Recently we owned and operated a successful health food store in the area which was a great experience. We have a bunch of furry friends kicking around , 2 German Sheppard's (Shep and Tucker) and 3 cats (Willie, Waylon and their mother Sassy)

My time outside of work and Wendy will usually find me hanging out with my buddies. We like to play a lot of golf in the summer including at the little course we have built on our land where I seem to lose more money than I win. Summer's are always fun for me as I enjoy throwing the canoe in the river as much as I can, doing some cottage visiting and exploring all that the great outdoors have to offer, however by the mid point of summer I generally get to thinking about snow so we can get the snowmobiles out as well as play a little pond hockey.

Aside from watching golf on T.V. I really do not know what else is on these day's so I cannot offer up my faves, Wendy tell's me that I cannot sit for more more than 5 minutes which may explain why I have not been in a movie theatre for almost 20 years, that all being said I have spent a fortune going to hundred's and hundred's of concert's and one of the highlight's would we bringing Willie Nelson (my all time favourite and a friend) onto stage right here in London at the JLC.

Thanks for visiting our site and look forward to hearing from you!

Ryan

EMAIL RYAN or if he's on the air call him at: (519) 643-1290

Mike Stubbs

Since birth, Mike has never really liked to sit. He’d much rather be doing any of the many things that he does.

You can hear him weekdays on London in the Afternoon from 4 until 6.

You can hear him on weekends as part of The Home Show and It’s Your Call and you can hear him all winter as the voice of the London Knights.

When Mike isn’t working, he loves to hang out with his family doing any number of other things that don’t usually involve sitting.

EMAIL MIKE or if he's on the air call him at: (519) 643-1290

OK, so here’s my life in a nut-shell.

Born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario (Don't let the media reports confuse you. It's actually a very nice place), I eventually moved to St. Catharines to get some of the edumacation I hear is so important. After 4 years at Brock University, and meeting the best dame I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, I got my first real “grown-up” job.

I used every ounce of my English Degree to secure a position as a facility insurance underwriter….wait…what? After 2 years of sitting in a cubicle checking my email for 4 hours a day, I went to Humber College to do some radio learning, then off I went to be part of a morning show in Niagara Falls. Once I realized I hated mornings, I moved to be a news anchor for one of CJBK’s sister stations in St. Catharines.

Then I got the “Call up” to help Stubbsy out on London in the Afternoon, and it’s been fun ever since. I’m married, have a son, and consider London my home…and I’ve never been happier in my life.

EMAIL AL or if he's on the air call him at: (519) 643-1290

From St. Thomas, Shannon was born with hockey skates on. She gets her love of hockey from her father, Ron, who played his hockey career at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and later became an assistant coach with the London Knights in the 1980s.

In 2005, Shannon moved to the East Coast to play Varsity hockey at the University of New Brunswick. In April 2011, she graduated on the Dean’s List from Fanshawe College with her diploma in Broadcast Journalism where she was the recipient of the Most Promising Reporter Award, Frontline Award for Breaking News and Best Local Interview Award. Shannon was also runner-up for two National Awards.

Shannon is currently an assistant coach with the Western Mustangs women’s hockey team and is a huge Don Cherry and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. When Shannon isn’t keeping you up-to-date with all of the sports news you need to know on 1290 CJBK, she enjoys spending time at the cottage, fishing, and hiking.

Follow Shannon on twitter WISE1290SPORTS or email her at swise1@astral.com

John Biggs

John Biggs has been behind a microphone in radio for over 26 years. After the band, John took the advice
of his drummer’s Mom (“You have a nice voice.
