Knights Fall A Goal Short Against Plymouth
Two second period goals by the Plymouth Whalers helped them to defeat the London Knights on Friday at Budweiser Gardens. Down two to start the third period, the London Knights pressed throughout the third period and were able to get a goal from Max Domi to draw within one, but could not get closer than that and fell 3-2.
Chris Tierney opened the scoring for the Knights with the team’s first short-handed marker of the season. It was the Knights’ first shot of the game after a free-flowing first eight minutes which saw one whistle. The Whalers tied the game with 7.3 seconds left in the first on a goal by Connor Carrick and then landed the two that made the ultimate difference in the second.
Kevin Raine did not play in the game due to a league imposed suspension. Miles Liberati played in his place and showed off some nice offensive skills.
The Knights outshot the Whalers 14-3 in the third and 31-30 in the game.
London will host Guelph on Saturday night at 7:00. Broadcast time on NewsTalk 1290 is 6:30.
