The Knights Come Close In Oshawa
A late goal mouth scramble in the Oshawa end came close, but not close enough as the London Knights fell 5-3 to the Generals on Sunday evening in Oshawa. While killing a penalty and with goalie Kevin Bailie pulled, the London Knights worked the puck to the edge of the Oshawa crease. It went off skates and sticks and eventually squirted past the pinching London Knights and seconds later Scott Sabourin of the Generals found himself at the other end of the ice, depositing a puck into the empty London net to close out the game. The goal was Sabourin's third of the game.
Down 3-1 to start the third period, the London Knights came out flying and had the game tied before te six minute mark thanks to power play goals from Seth Griffith and Bo Horvat. Sabourin broke the tie less than a minute later on what would end up as the game winning goal which he put over the shoulder of Bailie. Bailie was strong against his former team, making 34 saves.
Bo Horvat scored the other London goal. It, too, came with the man advantage, giving Horvat 5 goals in his last 3 games.
Cole Cassels and Dorchester native, Boone Jenner scored the other goals for Oshawa.
London will host the Erie Otters on Friday. Game time is 7:00 at Budwesier Gardens.
