Heartbreak With 18 Seconds Left
If you had told the Western Mustangs at half time on Saturday that they would be tied going into the final minute of their game against the Guelph Gryphons, you would have seen all kinds of disbelieving faces staring at you.
After all, the Mustangs were down 33-7. Nothing was really going their way.
Still, it happened. Unfortunately, Western was forced to watch as a kick sailed through the uprights giving Guelph a field goal with 18 seconds to go and ultimately a 42-39 win.
Blake Huggins replaced starter Will Finch late in the second quarter and led the Mustangs to 32 second half points. Western even led 36-33 in the fourth quarter.
Garrett Sanvido gained 210 yards on the ground and still leads the CIS in rushing.
Western is now 3-3 and will host Laurier on Saturday.
