Nationals Drop One To Cambridge
The Cambridge Winter Hawks got the jump on the London Nationals Saturday afternoon and held on for a 6-4 win. Cambridge led 3-0 just under eight minutes into the second period when London began to battle back. Noah Scwartz scored the Nats’ first goal of the game before the second period was over and Matt Ross scored early in the third to bring London to within a goal.
The final period see-sawed back and forth from there. Cambridge would restore their two goal lead, only to have the Nationals cut it to one, twice more until an empty netter sealed things for the Winter Hawks.
Schwartz ended the game with a goal and an assist and has yet to record less than two points in any game he has played this season. Blake Thomas and Aaron Dartch scored the other goals for London. Paul Hopkins had two assists.
The Nationals will host St. Mary’s on Wednesday at Western fair Sports Centre at 7:30.
