London's Nesbitt Finalist For Female Athlete Of The Year

Christine Nesbitt has been named as one of three finalists for Female Atlete of the Year at the Canadian Sports Awards.  They will be held on October 17th in Calgary.  The London speedskater is up against Rosie MacLennan of King City, ON and Tonya Verbeek of St. Catherines.  MacLennan won Canada's only gold medal at the Olympic Summer Games in England.  Verbeek won an Olympic silver in wrestling in the women's 55kg class this past summer.

Nesbitt's run in 2012 did not contain an Olympic Games, but it was an excellent season nonetheless.  Nesbitt set a world record in the 1000m and captured the women's 1,500-metre World Cup title and the Grand World Cup as the season's top skater.
