Quinlan Carries McMaster Over Western At Homecoming
It isn't often that a quarterback who is so adept at throwing the ball will make a difference with his feet. On Saturday at TD Waterhouse Stadium, Kyle Quinlan of the McMaster Marauders ran for 145 yards and threw for another 247 as McMaster doused the Mustangs' homecoming with a 33-27 win.
Western not only lost the game, they also lost starting quarterback Donnie Marshall. The 5th year QB re-injured his surgically repaired ankle scrambling away from pressure. Marshall had been sacked nine times before that.
First year quarterback Will Finch came in and looked string, throwing for 142 yards and a touchdown on 6 of 8 passing to give Western a late score, but they ran out of time against the #1 ranked Marauders.
Garrett Sanvido of Western did top 100 yards rushing once again, gaining 109 yards on the ground.
Western (3-2) heads to Guelph (4-1) next Saturday.
