Queen's Comes Out As King
A fourth quarter touchdown made the difference in a tight game as the Queen's Golden Gaels defeated the Western Mustangs 18-11 on Saturday. Ryan Granberg, the top rusher in the CIS last year, broke off tw big runs on a drive with less than ten minutes to go in the game. The second landed him in the end zone. The Mustangs' attempts to respond were shut down after that by the Golden Gaels' defense, handing Western their first loss of the season.
Queen's defense held Western's passing game to 109 yards and kept them from scoring an offensive touchdown. Western's only TD came courtesy of a Pawel Kruba interception return early in the third quarter.
Garrett Sanvido went over 100 yards for the third consecutive game for Western, but was injured late in the game and didn't see much time at all in the Mustangs' attempts to come back.
Western (2-1) will host Windsor (2-1) on Saturday at 1 PM at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
