Knights Hammer Sting In Pre-season Opener

The sound of the horn at the end of the first period acted a whole lot like an alarm clock for the London Knights.  After a tentative and at times, nervous start to their first pre-season game, London roared to life in the second and erased a 2-0 Sarnia Sting lead with eight straight goals on their way to an 8-2 victory.

Sarnia had jumped ahead 2-0 on two goals by Reid Boucher in the first, but had no answer for London's offense the rest of the way.  Alex Broadhurst scored three times.  Matt Rupert and Bo Horvat each added a pair and rookie Kyle Platzer scored the final goal of the game as London showed off pretty passing plays and puck control time and again.

Kevin Bailie picked up the win for London in net, playing the entire 60 minutes.

Max Domi was hit behind the net in the third by Craig Hottot and limped off the ice with eight minutes remaining.  He did not return and will be evaluated Saturday.

The Knights host the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday at 2 PM at the John Labatt Centre.
