Bell and Astral Media Decision Expected Today from CRTC

A decision on the merger between Bell and Astral Media will come down today from the C-R-T-C .
The deal is opposed by such media companies as Telus, Rogers, Quebecor who argue consumers would suffer because Bell would have too much control over content.
Bell says that it needs to get bigger in order to take on foreign online competitors, such as Netflix.
Bell's holdings include C-T-V, 30 specialty channels and almost three dozen radio stations.
Astral owns more than 80 radio stations - including Newstalk 1290.
