Students Caught in the Middle

This teacher work to rule campaign continues to grow as teachers fight the McGuinty government and its legislation forcing contracts on the teachers and preventing a strike.
Four cross country meets with the Thames Valley District School Board that were set for next week have been postponed after teachers who originally agreed to run the events backed out.
Board officials say they hope to run the meets the following week and is looking for teachers.
There is a big picture on the front of the Free Press this morning, showing a group of Colborne Street Elementary students from Strathroy standing on the sidelines at a cross country meet because none of their teachers would supervise.
Some parents offered to do it instead, and were told the school had already withdrawn from the meet and it was too much work to register so late.
