Vehicle Crashes into Bakery

A collision on Egerton Street just before midnight after a vehicle went through the front of a bakery.
Police say a truck was travelling east on Florence and went through a stop sign at Egerton and continued through the parking lot of a plaza where it ran into the front of the Nova Era Bakery.
There was extensive damage and authorities say the vehicle tried to flee but was tracked down and a man is in custody.
Police have now charged 32 year old Derrick MacIntyre of Strathroy with:
- Impaired operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the
Criminal Code of Canada;
- Fail to provide a breath sample, contrary to section 254(5) of the Criminal
Code of Canada;
- Fail to report collision, contrary to section 199(1) of the Highway Traffic
Act.
Damage to the bakery was estimated at $35,000 and approximately $10,000 to the vehicle.
