London-St.Thomas Unemployment Rate Hits 8.6% in July

The global economic slowdown has delivered a blow to Canada's jobs market.
The country shed a surprisingly steep 30-thousand, 400 jobs last month.
Stats-can says a lot of the losses were in the part-time category.
We are now sitting at 7.3 per cent nationally.
The London-St. Thomas unemployment rate has climbed for the second month in row, hitting 8.6% in July.
So it's pretty much holding steady, up a tenth of a point.
