London Police: Keep Pellet Guns Out of Public Areas

8/10/2012

London police say replica guns create a dangerous situation for officers and the person carrying the bb-guns that look too close to the real thing.

It's their second message sent out in the last three weeks about this issue.

It was prompted by a citizen calling police after seeing a man holding what was believed to be a handgun, pointing and pretending to shoot it in the area of Kipps Lane and Belfield yesterday.

Police located the male and found a bb-gun tucked into his waistband.

A 15 year old from London, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

It's great to see the police encouraging safety, but it's the responsibility of the owner to follow these rules. Pellet guns, Airsoft guns, and even paintball guns look so real, they can EASILY be mistaken for a real firearm. There are a lot of sites such as http://www.airsplat.com/airsoft-info.htm that encourage safety and proper casing due to this. Better to leave it at home or go to a designated field to play.
